Shepherd K. Govere is the Founder of New Life Journey, a discipleship-focused ministry committed to partnering with churches in fulfilling the Great Commission through intentional spiritual growth and leadership development.
Personal Testimony
Shepherd was born into a family of six, where his mother faithfully raised them in church, while his father practiced ancestral worship.In 1995, during a visit by a Scripture Union team at Lozane Baptist Church, a life-defining question was asked:
“Who is Christ in your life?”
Unable to answer, Shepherd realized that although he was in church, he did not truly know Christ personally. That moment led him to surrender his life to Jesus Christ. However, from 1995 to 2003, he lacked discipleship and spiritual guidance. His faith had begun, but it was not being developed.
His life took a transformative turn when he moved to Harare and joined Mabvuku Baptist Church, where Pastor George Nkala intentionally discipled him for two years. Through this process, Shepherd gained a strong biblical foundation, clarity in his faith, and direction for his life.In 2007, he responded to God’s call into ministry.
Calling and Ministry Burden
Through his own journey, Shepherd recognized a critical gap within many churches:
Many believers are saved but not discipled.
This burden became the driving force behind his ministry—to see believers not only come to Christ but grow, mature, and live out their faith effectively.
